Time to harvest smiles. Trainloads of them. Vaisakhi Diyan Vadhaiyan! (Back translation: Happy Vaisakhi)

Vaisakhi is a Sikh festival celebrating the season of harvest, with farmers expressing gratitude for the bountiful crops harvested during the season. Sikhs also celebrate Vaisakhi, as the day of formation of Khalsa in the year 1699 and this day is traditionally celebrated as Khalsa Day in Ontario. This celebration entails community feasts, visits to Gurudwaras, and vibrant processions showcasing agricultural abundance and joy.

As one of the biggest celebrations in the Sikh community, it is the time for everyone to celebrate with their favourite people and enjoy the beats of the Dhol (Indian double-headed drums). Because what's Vaisakhi without a little Bhangra? Bhangra is the traditional Punjabi dance form that celebrates Punjabi culture through lively music, energetic dance, and colourful attire, fostering community pride and preserving cultural identity. The celebration includes exchanging gifts, fancy clothes, lots and lots of delicious food. And if you ever needed a convenient and affordable way to get around and be where all the fun is, GO Transit’s got you covered.

Are you attending the Khalsa Day Parade?
