Why We Love The Zoo

The Toronto Zoo isn’t just a fun attraction. It’s also a wildlife conservancy. The Zoo’s mission is connecting people, animals and conservation science to fight extinction.

The Toronto Zoo is a not-for-profit charitable organization and the revenue from zoo admissions supports their programs. During an average year, the zoo welcomes approximately 1.3 million visitors.

GO Transit is happy to be helping more people return to the zoo for a fun and educational outing that also supports the zoo’s mission to protect endangered animals.

Which Animals Will We See?

Get ready for tigers, and tahr, and bison - OH MY!

A trip to the Toronto Zoo is really like an expedition around the world, discovering the creatures that inhabit every corner of our amazing planet.

In the African Savanna, you’ll see lions, cheetahs, giraffes (including their new baby giraffe Matumaini), penguins, zebras, rhinos, and more! Watch kangaroos and wallabies hop around the Australasia outdoor area. Check out the Amur tigers, red pandas, chamois, and more in the Eurasia Wilds. Take the Tundra Trek to see polar bears, Arctic wolves, and European reindeer.

Don’t skip the Canadian Domain! Sure, you’ve probably seen a raccoon in real life before, but what about a moose or a grizzly bear? They’re all waiting for you at the zoo!

GO Bear hopes that you’ll pay a special visit to his cousins - the polar bears in the Tundra Trek and the grizzly bears in the Canadian Domain! You can print out a picture of GO Bear for your kids to colour during the bus ride to the zoo. It’s a great way to keep occupied while waiting to see the real animals!

Extra Family Fun!

In addition to all of the regular animal exhibits, be sure to visit the Kids Zoo and Splash Island, open seasonally which are both currently open and included in your zoo admission. You’ll see some adorable animals, including ferrets, woodchucks, and alpacas.

Splash Island is the much-loved water play area at the Toronto Zoo, and it’s a great way for you and your family to cool off after walking around and visiting all the animals. Splash Island will be open by the summer. Check the Toronto Zoo website for updates and details.

The Conservation Carousel and the TundraAir Ride attractions are also open this summer, and are sure to make your zoo visit extra exciting! Additional fees apply.
