BR May 16- 18 MTC- PCD- 1429

From Tuesday May 5 to Thursday, May 14 Barrie line schedules will also be adjusted, and trains will depart and arrive at stations a couple of minutes before or after they are regularly scheduled.

Starting May 16 to May 18, there will be no GO Transit service between Downsview Park GO and Union Station as we carry out important construction to support the future addition of a second track.

Saturday, May 16 to Monday, May 18

GO Trains will run as regularly scheduled between Allandale Waterfront and Downsview Park GO.

If you are travelling between Downsview Park GO and Union Station, please consider these TTC options;

If you’re travelling to Downsview Park GO, from Union Station; take TTC Line 1 north.

If you’re travelling to Union Station, from Downsview Park GO; take TTC Line 1 south.

Regular service resumes Tuesday, May 19, with some trips and schedules adjusted. Please plan ahead.

Plan ahead and check your updated schedules before you travel.

*Barrie Line service will be affected over four weekends in May. In addition to May 2–3 and May 16–18, there are also service adjustments on the May 23–24 and May 30–31 weekends. We encourage you to plan ahead and check schedules before travelling.

What work is happening?

Metrolinx is transforming GO Transit to bring more frequent two-way, all-day service to the Barrie Line seven days a week, so you won't need a schedule because you know the next train will be coming soon. To support the future addition of a second track, key areas of the corridor along the Barrie Line are being expanded. What type of work is happening:

During the temporary closure of the Barrie line in May, crews will carry out foundational work for a second track and corridor improvements, including installing culverts and signaling works. On the Davenport Diamond Greenway, crews will carry out excavation work, pipe installation, asphalt paving and duct bank installation.

Our infrastructure plan will bring significant, incremental service benefits to create a network with the capacity to deliver service every 15 minutes or better, all-day, in both directions on core routes like the Barrie Line (to Maple GO).

We know that planned service disruptions can be inconvenient to our customers and communities, but upgrading GO Transit today will bring you more service in the future, giving you more options for getting where you need to go with fewer delays, more travel flexibility, and less time waiting. Barrie Line Closure – May 2-3, 2026

We temporarily closed the Barrie line this past weekend to carry out important construction work and necessary maintenance that will support faster, more frequent GO service as part of GO Expansion.

While service was paused, crews were able to conduct foundational work for a second track and corridor improvements, including installing culverts and signaling works.

Crews also installed pipeline casing for future utilities and rehabilitated 600 feet of track at Aurora GO. This involved replacing ballast, installing new track panels, welding and destressing. At Caledonia GO, crews conducted track realignment to make room for the new platform.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during construction.
