West Corridor Bridges
The West Corridor Bridges work package involves widening for railway bridges
in the western portion of the Georgetown South corridor:
Kipling Avenue, Martin Grove Road,
Highway 27 and Highway 427.
Updates
- April 29 – In April, we completed installation of girders
(bridge decks) at the bridges at Highway 27, Martin Grove Road and Kipling
Avenue. The girder installation work was completed on the weekends to
facilitate lane restrictions/road closures as required. At Highway 27, we
are now backfilling the wing wall, and forming and pouring the bridge,
completing the installation of the trainman’s walkway, the expansion joints
and completing waterproofing. A trainman’s walkway is a steel grate walkway
with railing that allows the train crew to safely step off and walk around
the train if needed. We are also preparing to install a trainman’s walkway
and place ballast on the bridge at Martin Grove Road. At Kipling Avenue, we
are relocating utilities within the southbound sidewalk, to be able to
reopen the sidewalk to the public. The work at the West Corridor Bridges is
expected to be completed this summer.
Kipling Avenue
Project Schedule
- Construction start: Fall 2012
- Construction complete: Summer 2013
What we are doing
- We are adding new spans to the existing bridge to accommodate more

How this will affect you
- There will be lane restrictions for the duration of the work and
occasional weekend road closures during construction.
- From December 17, 2012 to Spring 2013, the east sidewalk which
connects Etobicoke North GO Station and the north parking lot will be
unavailable. A temporary walkway will be provided to maintain access.
Noise and Vibration

will use construction methods to minimize these impacts
