Students must have their valid, current year, Canadian school-issued ID when travelling. This ID must be kept handy for ticket checks with the 10-ride student ticket or monthly pass; students in this category do not require a separate GO Student ID card.  School-issued IDs are valid for student fares until the beginning of the new school year.

Post-secondary students (see below for Durham Region exception)  To qualify for the student-rate fare, full-time students registered in an Canadian university or college must have a GO Student ID card when travelling. This GO ID must be kept handy with a student 10-ride ticket or monthly pass for ticket checks.  The GO Student ID is valid with student tickets for the entire period of full-time study. The post-secondary schools listed below provide an online service to request a GO Student ID during registration.  Students may also sign up for a GO Student ID card at their school with a paper application available in the Registrar's office.
