Safety tips for Union Station customers

Customer safety is very important to us. Union Station is a historic facility, and was not designed for the growing number of people who use it each day. Managing the flow of customers who move through the station during the morning and afternoon rush periods is a challenge. For your safety, please make sure you follow these tips as you travel through the GO Transit concourse:

§         Stay in the concourse or other waiting areas until announcements or messages on the information monitors tell you to make your way to the train. This keeps you informed, and prevents crowding on platforms when there’s a last-minute platform or schedule change.

§         Stay behind the yellow lines while on GO station platforms. Do not go onto or across the tracks. This is both dangerous and illegal (you may be subject to a fine), even when no train is approaching.

§         While waiting for a train, spread out along the platform so as to keep the areas near stairs and escalators clear.

§         When boarding and exiting the train, please use all doors available. This will make getting on and off the train quicker and easier. Also, when exiting, consider changing your usual route from the train into the station to avoid crowded areas. For example, try to leave the platform using a different staircase that’s less busy.

Working together, we can keep the GO Transit system safe for everyone.
